LOS ANGELES – The Pepperdine women’s swimming and diving team competed at the Burns Aquatic Center on the campus of Loyola Marymount, marking its second meet in just five days. The Waves earned top-three finishes in all nine relay events, and edged Alaska Fairbanks in head-to-head dual scoring 80-79.
In the first event of the day, the 300 breaststroke, Jessica Mosbaugh (Los Alamitos, Calif./Los Alamitos HS), Nicolette Barreiro (Valencia, Calif./Hart HS) and Kathrine Kuhlmann (Liberty, Mo./Liberty HS) teamed together to place second with a time of 3:06.25.
The Waves picked up third-place finishes in the 300 breaststroke, 800 freestyle, 500 freestyle and 400 medley relays before coming in runner-up in the 200 freestyle relay. Kristine Pataray (West Jordan, Utah/Copper Hills HS), Naasz, Ally Bernard (Porterville, Calif./Monache HS/Cuesta College) and Barreiro collaboratively clocked a 1:44.78.
Elizabeth Pitts (Marietta, Ga./Marist School), freshly back after spending the fall semester studying overseas, made her return to the squad without skipping much of a beat. She swam a 50 free split of 28.01 in her leg of the 200 freestyle relay to help the group to a fifth-place result.
No dual scoring was tracked between Pepperdine and LMU.
The Waves return to action on Jan. 17-18 when they return to Loyola Marymount for the annual Beach Cup.
