Pepperdine Opens Action at Sixth Annual Beach Cup
Mosbaugh earns top-five finish to lead the Waves.

LOS ANGELES – The Pepperdine women’s swimming and diving team competed today at the Burns Aquatic Center on the campus of Loyola Marymount against the Lions, Fresno State and San Diego.
Jessica Mosbaugh (Los Alamitos, Calif./Los Alamitos HS) earned the highest individual finish for the swimmers on Friday, placing fourth in the 200 IM. Her time of 2:10.12 was less than half a second off of her season-best mark of 2:09.71.
The remaining Pepperdine student-athletes entered in the 200 IM all swam their best times of the season. Allison Naasz Lodi, Calif./Tokay HS) shaved nearly two seconds off her previous season-best time, and clocked a 2:14.95 today.
In the 50 freestyle, both Kristine Pataray (West Jordan, Utah/Copper Hills HS) and Ally Bernard (Porterville, Calif./Monache HS/Cuesta College) placed in the top-20 to pace the Waves. Pataray finished 14th overall behind a time of 25.81, while Bernard stopped the clock at the 25.93 mark for 16th place.
Erin Himes (West Chester, Pa./Unionville HS) led Pepperdine in the 500 freestyle, delivering a performance of 5:33.28.
Following the swim events, the Pepperdine divers traveled to a nearby high school for the diving portion of the meet. Results of that portion of the competition are unavailable at this time.
The Beach Cup concludes on Saturday.
