Wade Wins Both 1 and 3-Meter Springboard at Malibu Invitational
Pepperdine resumes the Malibu Invitational with the middle distance, sprint and relay events on Saturday morning, beginning at 10 a.m.

MALIBU, Calif. – Leslie Wade highlighted the opening day for Pepperdine at the annual Malibu Invitational, taking top honors in both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events.
Wade (Atlanta, Ga./The Lovett School) began the day competing in the 1-meter. She scored 227.85 points, outscoring her nearest competitor by more than 20, to finish in first place.
Kristin Scribner (Bonney Lake, Wash./Bonney Lake HS) followed in third place with 204.90, while Klaire Korver (Redwood City, Calif./Pinewood School) posted a score of 193.60 to take fourth. Amber Seba (Flower Mound, Texas/Marcus HS) rounded out the Waves’ 1-meter contestants with a seventh-place showing.
In the 3-meter, Wade continued to score consistently through all six dives to tally a combined score of 224.50. With 216.25 points, Scribner finished just behind her teammate in second place.
The 1,650 freestyle, also known as the “Malibu Mile,” got things started for the swimmers. Shannon Adkins (Granite Bay, Calif./Granite Bay HS) was the first Wave to reach the wall, clocking a personal-record time of 18:36.36 to place third overall.
Madison Krall (Pueblo, Colo./Pueblo Centennial HS) finished in fifth place behind a time of 19:21.90, while Ginger Jacobsen (Rockville, Centre, N.Y./Kellenberg Memorial HS) finished at the 20:19.31 mark to place sixth.
Krall was the top performer for the Waves in the 400 IM, placing sixth with a time of 4:56.97. Kelly Corso (Glendora, Calif./Glendora HS) logged an eighth place finish after completing the race in a time of 5:06.60, while Stephanie Ertl (Carmel, Ind./Carmel HS) placed ninth with a time of 5:13.93.
In the final race of the day, the 500 freestyle, Krall was once again Pepperdine’s top finisher. The senior clocked a 5:34 flat to take home seventh place. Ashlie Benson (Edwardsville, Ill./Edwardsville HS), Paige Weslaski (Racine, Wis./Case HS) and Sarah Burris (Virginia Beach, Va./Cox HS) all completed the race in sub-6:00 minute times to round out the top-10.
The Malibu Invitational continues tomorrow morning, beginning at 10 a.m. The middle distance events, sprints, and relays will all be contested.
