Waves to Compete in PCSC Championships

MALIBU, Calif. – The Pepperdine women’s swimming and diving team will compete in its last meet of the season this week at the PCSC Championships, held from Feb. 13-16 at Belmont Plaza Olympic Pool in Long Beach, Calif.

The PCSC Championships will be co-hosted by Cal Baptist and Biola. The Waves will be joined in competition by Biola. Cal Baptist, CSU East Bay, Chapman, Concordia, Fresno Pacific University, Loyola Marymount, Northern Colorado, Seattle, Soka University, University of Alaska Fairbanks, UC San Diego and UC Santa Cruz.

Despite winning eight of 16 events during their last dual meet on Jan. 26 at Cal Poly SLO, the Waves narrowly fell 157-143. Ali McLeod (Austin, Texas/Cedar Park HS) took first place in the 100-yard backstroke and the 100-yard butterfly, and Amanda Pond (Wayland, Mass./Wayland HS) claimed first place in the three-meter dive and the one-mater dive. Prior to the meet with the Mustangs, the Waves won their first dual meet of the season on Jan. 12 with a 184-76 victory over Cal State Northridge. 


At the Orange and Blue Trials on Feb. 1, McLeod set a school record in the 400-yard individual medley and  Loriann Mark (Malibu, Calif./Malibu HS), swam the school's second-best time ever in the 1,000 freestyle. Pepperdine swimmers totaled 19 personal bests during the Time Trials.
