Waves Claim PCSC Invitational Victory

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The Pepperdine women’s swimming and diving team continued its impressive start to the season as they claimed first place at the PCSC Invitational Saturday afternoon in Riverside, Calif.


The Waves finished the meet with 282 points, 77 points ahead of second place Loyola Marymount. After winning 13 individual events on Friday, the Waves claimed first place in eight relay events and both diving events on Saturday.


The Waves took first-place honors in the 300-yard butterfly relay (2:57.29), the 300-yard backstroke relay (3:04.99), the 300-yard breaststroke relay (3:24.99), the 800-yard freestyle relay (8:00.15), the 400-yard medley relay (4:01.60), the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:40.93), the 1500-yard freestyle relay (15:49.01) and the 400-yard IM relay (4:11.48). Tiffany Martz (Folsom, Calif./Folsom HS) and Chelsea Yarnell (Auburn, Calif./Del Oro HS) teamed to win the 1-meter diving (364.90) event, while Amanda Pond (Wayland, Mass./Wayland HS) and Shannon Hedman (Fair Oaks, Calif./Loretto HS) led the Waves to victory in the 3-meter diving competition (438.90).


Up next, the Waves will host the Malibu Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 27 at 10 a.m.
