Waves to Face Rice in Opening Round of NCAA Tournament
Pepperdine making its 26th consecutive appearance at the NCAA Tournament and 30th overall.

MALIBU, Calif. – The Pepperdine women’s tennis team learned it would be playing Rice in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament in Palo Alto, Calif. on the campus of Stanford University. The Waves are making their 30th appearance at the NCAA Tournament after winning their 23rd West Coast Conference Tournament Title.
Pepperdine, ranked #62, is 12-11 on the season, but has won 12 of its last 14 duals.
The Owls are listed at #20 in the ITA rankings and are 20-4 after winning the Conference USA Tournament title.
The two teams will square off at 11 a.m. on May 10 at the Taube Family Tennis Stadium
The Cardinal will play as host and faces Miami (Ohio) in round one later that afternoon.
The winners of both duals will play on Saturday, May 11 at 1 p.m.
Pepperdine is 25-29 all-time at the NCAA Tournament and has competed at the championships ever single season since 1988 – 26 consecutive years in all.
The Waves are 4-0 all-time versus Rice, and most recently faced the Owls during the 2010 season.
The 16 different schools to emerge out of the 16 different host sites will converge in Urbana, Ill. to play out the remainder of the NCAA Tournament on May 16-21. The singles and doubles tournament will immediately follow on May 22-27. Singles and doubles selections will be announced on Wednesday, May 1.
