The Waves, who tied for fifth in the league standings in 2012, tallied 58 points to place fourth in the preseason vote.
BYU, the 2012 Co-West Coast Conference champions, snagged the top spot with 74 points and five first-place votes. San Diego, who shared the league title with the Cougars last season, finished in a close second with 73 points and three first-place votes.
Saint Mary’s claimed the remaining two first-place votes and placed third with 69 total points.
Following Pepperdine was Loyola Marymount and Santa Clara in fifth and sixth place, respectively. WCC newcomer Pacific was picked to place seventh in its first year in the league, followed by San Francisco, Gonzaga and Portland.
