Women's Volleyball Signs Three to NLI

2013 Waves

November 21, 2012

MALIBU, Calif. – Pepperdine women’s volleyball head coach Nina Matthies signed three to a National Letter of Intent, marking her final recruiting class as the coach of the indoor squad. Middle blockers Allie Loitz and Taylin Alm, as well as pin hitter Ema Causevic have all signed NLIs and will join the Waves for the 2014 season.

“The staff is very excited about this recruiting class,” said Matthies. “They are all a good fit for Pepperdine.”

This year’s recruiting class comes to Pepperdine from near, far and even farther. With just 155 miles separating the Malibu campus from Bonita, Calif., Loitz has the least amount of traveling to do when the time comes to move into the dorms.

Alm has upwards of 1,600 miles to get from Mitchell, S.D. to Southern California, while over 6,000 miles separate home from Malibu for Causevic. The Croatian born, Italian raised outside hitter hails from Ravenna, Italy.

The Waves will lose just two indoor players to graduation, including setter Kellie Woolever (Long Beach, Calif./Woodrow Wilson HS) and outside hitter Kelley Larsen (Jamul, Calif./Christian HS).

Loitz, Alm and Causevic are all expected to contribute on the sand volleyball team as well.

The Pepperdine indoor team wraps up the regular season this week with road matches at San Francisco and Santa Clara.
