No. 4 Pepperdine Completes Third-Straight Perfect West Coast Conference Season

MALIBU, Calif. -- The fourth-ranked Peppedine women's volleyball team closed out its third-straight perfect West Coast Conference season with a sweep over San Diego on Saturday night at the Jenny Craig Pavilion. The scores were: 30-29, 31-29, and 30-24.
The victory improves the Waves to 14-0 in WCC action and 24-2 overall. The win is Pepperdine's 10th over a ranked team this season, as well as its 44th consecutive conference victory dating back to the 2000 season. Meanwhile, the Toreros fall to 17-12 overall and 6-8 in WCC.
Katie Wilkins posted a match-high 20 kills and hit a spectacular .500 percent to score a match-best 21.0 points. Early in game two, Wilkins accounted for her 500th kill on the season. Breegan Mulligan, who was the only other player in double kill figures (10) recorded a .333 clip, added six digs, and three blocks for 12.5 points.
Other outstanding performances were registered by Lyndsey Hache' who played an all-around outstanding game with nine kills, .333 hitting, three aces, six blocks and 15.5 points. Melissa Mehlhorn distributed 37 assists and scooped up 16 digs.
For USC, Ryan Maspero had 13 kills and Kristen Hurst recorded 14 digs.
Pepperdine out-hit San Diego, .315 to .183, and had 10.0 blocks to USD's 1.0.
The Waves next hosts Los Angeles rival, No. 8 UCLA, on Tuesday, Nov. 25, at 7 p.m. at the Firestone Fieldhouse in an out-of-conference match to conclude the regular season.
